With a foundation in classic jungle along with a non stop search for the latest broken beat sounds, whyno has branded a unique blend of styles to keep people in motion.
In 2003 whyno and Dj Nuggs founded the Big Sound Camp based in Massachusetts. They blended classic jungle, the latest ragga jungle sounds, reggae and hip hop riddims that New England was sorely lacking. Big Sound gained a third member soon after, TSD, and together they pushed these sounds threw New Hampshire, Mass, Rhode Island, Connecticut and New York. Being a California native it was only a matter of time before whyno made it back to the west coast.
In 2006 whyno linked up with Dj Truant and helped coordinate a free jungle monthly in the Inland Empire, Unknown Soljahs. The two shortly after realized the like mindedness and founded Broke Junglist. Broke Junglist was formed to bring inexpensive jungle shows to the people to ensure everyone that wanted to get out and enjoy the vibes could. In the last few years Broke Junglist has put on shows in LA, Inland Empire and San Diego Counties, bringing in national and international acts to push the sounds of jungle across So Cal at a time where it is almost forgotten.
In 2009 whyno has persued his love for reggae music and co-founded 2 Tone Sound System along side ERU from Different Breed and Gone Jahmen Crews. The two have put in countless hours formulating dancehall mash ups, working with artist to voice specials and collecting and juggling riddims to keep things shakin' in the dance. The two have been involved with many reggae nights including Irie Vibes, Sensi saturdays, Simply Saturdaze and more. Watch out for 2010 as whyno keeps things moving with 2 Tone Sound's reggae bashments, Broke Junglist jungle jamborees and Dub Chamber Records!
